Dijon is currently touring his second studio album, released August 15, 2025. To no one’s surprise he was nominated for the Grammy’s Producer of the Year not only for his own work but for his contributions to Justin Bieber’s high-charting album SWAG (2025). He allows himself to tear a song apart before meticulously putting it back together. His music is known for mastering merging lyricism and delivery into something that feels more like a necessary lifeline than a performance. He is revered by his audience due to the sincerity of his music. That sincerity shows up in multiple ways including displaying his passion for music through his sampling decisions.
Below we highlight some of our favorite samples used to make the 12 tracks on Baby (2025). Moving between foundational classics like "Ain’t No Fun" by Snoop Dogg (1993) to deep cuts that only exist in archives. Reaching into obscure corners and pulling GZA’s and ODB’s 1991 "Video Music Box" freestyle to immediately bring penultimate track "Automatic" (2025) to life.
Baby!

Pharrell Williams & Nelly “Baby”
Between the sentimental lyrics and his baby’s assumed coo’s you will find Pharrell Williams and Nelly’s "Baby" sped up and layered into the song to give it depth.
Another Baby!

'It's Yours' by T La Rock and Jazzy Jay (1984)
As Dijon bellows that whatever his partner wants is hers he has La Rock and Jazzy Jay reaffirm with the “It’s Yours” response call from their 1984 track.
"Do I Love Her?" by Dj Quik ft Suga Free (2000)
Suga Free’s line “Nothing can be compared to the way we keep it hot” Tempo is upped and turned into a snappy beat to begin "Another Baby!"
"Table Interlude" - Suga Free
And as the song enters its outro it includes the soft hums of Suga Free’s "Table Interlude".
HIGHER!

"Fix Me" by Black Flag (1983)
Black Flag not only counts themself into their 1983 track "Fix Me", but Dijon also takes their raspy punk voice to count them into 3rd track "Higher" (2025).
Yamaha

"What?" by A Tribe Called Quest (1991)
Following Q-Tip barring out on "What?" (1991), the song concludes with them saying “What tigga. What tigga” repeatedly before they end on an exclaimed WHAT! That what can be heard as a pulsing beat.
Automatic

GZA and Ol’ Dirty Bastard of Wu Tan Clan Freestyle (1991)
The freestyle features Wu Tang Clan’s GZA and ODB. A screenshot of the original video has been Dijon’s PFP for years- giving fans the ultimate album easter egg- before the baby that this album is written about even existed. The song starts exactly how the original freestyle starts… check it out.
"Roxanne’s Revenge" - Roxanne Shante (1985)
At the 1:30 mark of the song, he interpolates the record scratches originally found on "Roxanne’s Revenge".
Some other notable samples across the album include:
- O Superman by Laurie Anderson (1982) in "Yamaha"
- La Di Da Di By Doug E. Fresh & Slick Rick (1985) in "Yamaha"
- Ain’t No Fun (If the homies can’t have none) by Snoop Dogg Ft Nate Fogg, Kurupt, and Warren G (1993) in "Another Baby!"
- Day One by Bon Iver, Dijon, and Flock of Dimes in "Kindalove"
Dijon perfectly collaged the different samples on his most recent album which has only been a testament to his 2026 Grammy nomination. The project may be far from a hip-hop classification but the production shows it is embedded in the album's DNA. It is not just curation or production but it is a personal anthology and proof that Dijon’s world is built by the sounds he is surrounded by. I for one am rooting for his win at the 2026 Grammy’s.
