When we saw Tony linking up with Anysia Kym for a full collaborative project, we were thrilled to hear what was in store. “Automatic” quickly became one of my favorite tracks of the year; the bass booms as Anysia rides the waves with grace. The first two singles, “Speedrun” and “Automatic” showed us how magical it is when Anysia’s smooth voice combines with Tony’s *deep*, textured production. Anysia and Tony are both known to be super experimental, now they are leaving no stone unturned as they build out new sounds.
Diving into the full album, we get to see so many different sides of these two artists. “Diamonds & Pearls” feels playful and whimsical, while“Realxxxxx” feels murky and heavy. Still, “Long4” (the longest track on the album yet only 2:04 in length) feels like its most distinct R&B moment and is perfect for a late night bike ride home or a drive through the rain.
Purity blends heartfelt melodies, head-bopping hip hop rhythms, and otherworldly electronic sounds to create a truly one-of-a-kind body of work. I hope to see Anysia and Tony work together more in the future and I love the way their sounds balance one another!
