The Drive Home
Samara Cyn
October 25
Samara Cyn’s rise has been meteoric, and she’s quickly gained cosigns from some of the most respected artists in the rap game. Just by listening to her, it’s clear that she is making music inspired by an expertly curated group of influences. She’s soulful and animated like Outkast, she sings and raps with a rasp reminiscent of Doja Cat, and her lyricism and attention to detail remind me of pros like Mick Jenkins. The Drive Home is a very strong debut album for her and does a great job of showing her versatility. Listening to these songs it feels like Samara is standing right in front of you, placing her hands on your shoulders and looking you dead in the eyes, telling you “this is how bad I want this”. We believe in you Samara!
